Treasury minister ‘excited’ at prospect of free ports on the Humber

The Treasury has opened the door for a free port to be set-up in the Humber – but ministers have warned that the Brexit deal must be right for it to happen.

Establishing free ports at Immingham and Grimsby would allow the ports to set its own trade taxes once Britain leaves the European Union in March next year, making it a cut-price region to do business in.
