UKMPG – Public Accounts Committee report on DoT Brexit preparedness

Commenting on today’s Public Accounts Committee ‘Major disruption at ports is ‘real prospect’ in no-deal Brexit’ report on the Department for Transport’s Brexit preparations Tim Morris, CEO of the UK Major Ports Group – the body representing the gateways for 75% of the UK’s seaborne trade – said “The UK port sector is a resilient and adaptable one. Most of the UK’s major ports already handle huge volumes of non-EU trade successfully. Dover faces a unique set of challenges. It is an important port but not representative of the ports sector as a whole. The sector and individual ports are working closely with the Government to prepare for a range of different outcomes. Given the strong base we work from, the major ports sector is confident of its ability to work through the changes of Brexit and continue to connect the UK with the world.”
