SUMMARY:The Mersey Maritime Exchange
DESCRIPTION:‘MARITIME 2050: THE JOURNEY SO FAR’ \nMersey Maritime are delighted to announce their third annual conference\, The Mersey Maritime Exchange. \nThe Mersey Maritime Exchange was originally conceived in 2019\, in response to the Government’s Maritime 2050 report which set out the future of the sector over the next three decades. At the heart of the report was a commitment to technological transformation\, decarbonisation and a more inclusive\, highly-trained workforce. \nThis year’s conference will focus on ‘Maritime 2050: The journey so far’ and is being delivered with the support of the Department for Transport and Maritime UK. \nThe conference will again explore the Maritime 2050 strategy and its key themes\, coming two-and-a-half years into the short-term recommendations and coinciding with the launch of Maritime UK’s detailed: ‘Maritime 2050: Where are we now?’ report. It will also celebrate the Day of the Seafarer 2021. \nOver the past two years\, industry and government have been working to deliver the short-term recommendations set out within the strategy. The conference will reflect on progress and identify areas for prioritisation in the coming months and years. The conference will also see the launch of a Maritime UK report detailing progress and how individuals and companies can get involved in the various activities being delivered in support of the 2050 vision. \nConference themes: \n\nPeople\nInnovation\nEnvironment\nCompetitiveness\nRegional Growth\n\nEvent format: \nThe conference will be a hybrid virtual and in-person event. SUMMARY:ESPO CONFERENCE REGATTA 2021 25-28 MAY: ESPO SAILS TOWARDS YOU!
DESCRIPTION:ESPO CONFERENCE REGATTA 2021\n25-28 MAY: ESPO SAILS TOWARDS YOU!\n\n22 January 2021 \n\nThis year\, the ESPO Conference will be sailing towards you: We are taking you on a Conference Regatta\, crossing Europe from South to North. We set sail in the Port ofValencia on Tuesday 25 May. From there we sail off to Ghent\, where we will be welcomed by our second host\, North Sea Port on Wednesday 26 May. Our last port of call will be the Port of Oslo\, where we race to the finish line on Friday 28 May. \n \nWe all hope that you will be part of this unique 17th edition of the ESPO Conference\, either in-person at one of the destinations or virtually\, or maybe combining both. We have so much to talk about! \nAfter a year of disruption\, Europe is preparing for a green recovery\, a plan that aims at combining the need to recover with the delivery of the Green Deal\, Europe’s flagship project to become the world’s first net-zero emission area by 2050. At the same time\, the EU seeks to strengthen its resilience by pursuing an open strategic autonomy approach in trade. Finally\, the 1st of January we became the EU-27\, a game changer for Europe’s ports or not? \nIn 2020\, Europe’s ports have shown the best of themselves. Throughout the pandemic\, they remained operational and have been playing a critical role in keeping the supply chains going. \nIt is now time to prepare for the future. Being at the centre of different strategies\, Europe’s ports can be a partner in building a stronger and better Europe. They can develop towards becoming real engines of growth and green recovery\, while engaging fully into the digitalisation process. What do ports have to offer? Which tools and policy ingredients are needed to boost this development? How to engage all partners in the port ecosystem? \nJoin us for this ESPO Conference Regatta 2021 and let’s talk all together – port industry\, businesses\, academics and\, last but not least\, EU policy makers – about the future of ports as part of a strong and resilient European economy and society. \nSave the date now! We will be back soon with an exciting programme and more information on how to welcome you on board of this Annual Highlight of the European port industry! \n\n  \nMore information soon at\nwww.espo-conference-regatta-2021.com\n

SUMMARY:Active Bystanders
DESCRIPTION:The BPA’s Council had highlighted that inclusion in the workplace is an area that UK ports might want to look at in terms of their operations and communications. \nThere will be a series four webinars taking place on 24 February and 3/10/24 March from 11:30-13:00. They will be held online using Microsoft Teams and will be recorded\, meaning you can share with colleagues who may not be able to attend the live webinar. The webinars are free to attend for all BPA port and associate members\, for non-members it will cost £20 +VAT per session. \nWhy Inclusion? \nInclusion is a broad subject and is a term that trips off the tongue of many. However\, people have different understandings of what the word means. Many use the word inclusion as an interchangeable one with diversity\, or even equality. Inclusive Employers focus on workplace inclusion and look at inclusion as an overarching culture that encompasses diversity and equality and many other aspects of our working lives. This series of webinars will give you an understanding of why inclusion is essential for people in workplaces to feel valued and to flourish at work. SUMMARY:Inclusive behaviours and everyday inclusion
We will explore why inclusion is everyone’s right and responsibility\, and how inclusive work environments benefit everyone. \nWho should attend these webinars? \nThis is not just for HR professionals! Colleagues of all levels and roles interested in improving their understanding about inclusion and making a difference in the work environment. What does being included feel like? \n2. What are the risks of being excluded? \n3. Who has made you feel included? \n4. What do they do to make you feel included? \n5.
