Shipping Minister, Nusrat Ghani MP, has given a keynote speech at ABP’s annual parliamentary lunch in the House of Commons. The event was held to launch ABP’s latest Annual Review.

Ms Ghani paid tribute to the important contribution the UK’s maritime industry makes to the national economy and gave an insight into the Government’s plans to support the industry in continuing to develop well into the future. The Minister spoke about the importance of encouraging more women to work in the maritime sector and highlighted a series of other Government initiatives to help shape a positive future for the industry, such as the groundbreaking Maritime 2050 strategy.

Also speaking at the event, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, David Leighton, emphasised the central theme of ABP’s latest Annual Review, ‘Embracing the Future’ and reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the Government’s maritime agenda, and keeping Britain trading.

The event, hosted by Royston Smith, the MP for Southampton Itchen, was attended by a number of other MPs representing ABP’s local communities across the UK, as well as a range of other government and business stakeholders.
