Commenting on the agreement at technical level of a Brexit Withdrawal Agreement and the subsequent political debate Tim Morris, CEO of the UK Major Ports Group – the body representing the gateways for 75% of the UK’s seaborne trade – said “All complex deals need careful reading and consideration. No one ever gets everything they want. And the ‘walk away’ option needs to be well thought through and a very practical alternative. UKMPG awaits more detail on the proposed Agreement before coming to judgement. However, we do so with the confidence that UK port sector is resilient and flexible. It has successfully adapted to major changes in the past and will do so again with Brexit.”
