Aberystwyth harbour is essentially a very friendly marina which afforded us much welcome shelter for 48 hours during some rough weather. Commander Peter Norrington-Davies (a retired Royal Navy submarine captain) has been HM for an amazing 25 years. When he arrived back in his home town of Aberystwyth cows were grazing where Good Dog was moored.

Peter has overseen the building and development of a very efficient marina now run by super friendly John Booth and his team. We needed a halyard replacing and as you can see Damien took a rather fun photo from the top of our mast. .
Aberystwyth is VERY Welsh, as the plaque on the town bridge confirms. It has a stunning castle, built by Edward 1st, and subsequently destroyed by Cromwell’s cannons. I chatted to some crabbing fishermen who where in the middle of preparing a rope of over ONE MILE long onto which they attach up to 100 pots!
