Commenting on today’s announcement of new requirements for travellers entering the UK to aid the fight against COVID-19 Tim Morris, CEO of the UK Major Ports Group, said: “Today’s announcement on new border measures will bring more challenges for some activities at UK ports such as ferries and cruise liners. However, with less than 10% of UK port traffic being trucks with drivers – and more capacity available for containers and trailers – its business as usual for the majority of UK ports. Ports have been working hard to keep moving the food and other essentials we all rely on. It would be great if Government could show the same enthusiasm for ports and freight as it has done for supporting e-scooters and pop-up cycle lanes.”
