New MD for Able Group as Tees and Humber sites lead the way for UK offshore wind ambition

Leading port development and marine decommissioning firm Able Group has appointed a new managing director.

Steven Harrison, former chief operating officer at Port Of Tyne, has joined the company behind huge developments on the Humber and Tees.

Founder and executive chairman Peter Stephenson said the appointment comes at “a hugely important and pivotal time” for the business, with both facilities on the Tees and the Humber “playing central roles in delivering the Government’s ambition for the UK to become the world leader in developing the offshore wind sector”.

He said it strengthens the senior management team at the Billingham-headquartered business.

“Crucially, we are now poised to move ahead with the development of the Able Marine Energy Park on the South Bank of the Humber which has been selected for support under the Government’s Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme, a key element in plans, announced by the Prime Minister, as part of the Government’s plan for the UK to become the ‘Saudi Arabia of wind’. . . . .
