Jessica Tyson is the 30th HM I have met and Bridgwater would be the 40th harbour that I visited…..if it was not so far inland.

To quote the Pilot Book: “….. the potentially hazardous expanse of Bridgwater Bay is a remote wilderness of drying sand and mud reaching out to up to four miles from a low featureless shore”.

So… you would never believe that Bridgwater (not Bridgewater!) was once a larger harbour than Bristol! Jessica, an ex Ship’s Master (Class 1 Unlimited Foreign Going) is the Assistant HM of Bridgewater. Together with the HM Keith Badsey they cover a large and potentially hazardous section of the Bristol Channel, as well as guiding aggregate ships 8 miles up the River Parrett to Bridgwater. .
Thank you Jessica for coming to visit me and Good Dog in the safety of Portishead Marina!
